A Child Moves From 'She' to 'He' With Confidence

Q Daily, a third grader who attends a Brooklyn public school, describes himself as silly, curious and nice — all of the qualities that he likes about people. He is a lover of Michael Jackson, a wearer of trendy hats and isn’t shy about dancing in front of a crowd.

And, now that he identifies as a boy, he feels more alive than before.

“It feels like, instead of a dead flower, a growing flower,” he said of his transition from girl to boy.

Because you never hear about trans kids of color until they’re dead.

This took a CRAZY amount of time, but I’m quite happy with the result! I tried not to make it look too much like it was a background from the show, I don’t know if I managed to, though. Anyway, you should all watch Gravity Falls, if you don’t already, because it’s

“I’m the only one that cares about you”

when you hear those words, you turn tail and run as fast as you can. you run before it’s too late. These words are an abuse tactic

you are worth the world, and never, even in your darkest, believe that this one person is the only one who gives a shit. I have seen the kindness of strangers and friends alike, and you are not unloved. do not believe them.

you need to take a goddamn chill pill.

so there’s a lot of tags and added comments in the reblogs of this post that say ‘no’ and ‘where’s the fun in that’ and ‘never’ etc ad infinitum, and i have to say this:

you need to actually find your goddamn chill. you’re all acting either like entitled, spoiled brats or like rabid dogs who have no idea the meaning of the words ‘no’ and ‘stop’. you harass the writers and producers for the most ridiculous things for far longer than they deserve, which is not at all. to name just a few of the most recent arguments: how making danny canonically bi would be lesbiphobic OR how making her canonically lesbian would be biphobic; threatening to quit the show because of the use of OCD by carmilla on twitter, and kirsch’s name being wilson and not brody [which i think is what prompted itmustbebunnies‘ post here].

anamatics and @hotladypants and been more than patient with all of you, and if you think they’re being rude now, honestly they have every right to be. as it is with any other form of media - books, films, network television, etc - the writers are under absolutely no obligation to follow your fanon headcanons [eg: brody kirsch]. the carmilla crew has been outstandingly generous with us, what with all of the extra content, barely making hiatus feel like a hiatus, and answering our questions and concerns left and right. with the way you’re all treating them, i’m frankly amazed they’re still trying to connect with the fandom. again, i say that they have every right to be rude or short with you lot, but if you think they’re being rude, maybe ask yourselves which of your actions have caused such a reaction.

I am not okay with the lack of continuity for Goofy’s real name

I don’t know what I was expecting, but this is bullshit.

I AM NOT OKAY WITH THE LACK OF CONTINUITY

goofy changes his name ever few years for the purpose of tax evasion, he has been dodging the government for well over half a century and owes hardworking american citizens hundreds of thousands of dollars in back taxes

Damn

the only reason why white people get offended when you refer to them as “white people” is because they’re used to being solely referred to as “people.”

they don’t liked being “othered” but have no problem othering us.

Okay. Black person who wrote this. Are you offended yet?

This is why white people can not survive in this world any longer because y’all intentionally try to provoke people because you’re too offended to look past your privilege and learn how much of an ass you are.

Just because you mad at getting your racist behavior called out doesn’t mean you can do it back to us like some petty child tit for tat shit, or even act like we’re going to take you seriously when you do it.

Y’all have no future.

This is a real thing I found on my Facebook feed. This child is 8. God help us all.

Ah yes. Shame young artists as if you all didn’t start somewhere. As if your first attempts at art weren’t shitty as fuck.

Good on her family for encouraging her creativity.

Fuck y'all for picking on an eight year old girl.

No, no, it’s not that!  OP is reacting to the fact that this 8 year old has, apparently, drawn Aoba, a character from Dramatical Murder, which is a video game that is DEFINITELY NOT APPROPRIATE for an 8 year old.  I think the anime might be…less explicit?  It’s up on Crunchyroll without any warnings so I assume it’s not actually pornographic, but still…..

this character gets fisted by a robot lion in the video game

A robot snake fucks him as well

The robot lion used cake frosting as lube

He gets trapped in his own mind vividly hallucinating of his pet dog as a human fucking him while ripping off his arm and eating him.

One of the things I really like about Steven Universe is the fact that while the majority of the characters are female, they aren’t usually given those exaggerated girly eyelashes like most female cartoon characters to make them look cute and feminine.

And the one who DID get the cute girly lashes?

a 90’s kid? don’t you mean sad adult?

70,000 people have reblogged this but no one is trying to defend themselves

There is nothing to defend

#i read a post once that described 90s kids as the generation of nostalgia #because so much technological advancement happened in such a rapid timeframe when we were growing up #that we can clearly remember having technologies that are now obsolete #like going from a corded hugeass phone to a small computer in your pocket just within our formative years is a major thing #and it sparks a nostalgia for our seemly ‘simpler’ childhoods #because so much rapid development makes it seem like it was a lot longer ago than it actually was (x)

This Explanation makes me much less resentful of the overplayed Nostalgia I hear so often.

like we were literally born in such a different time than the one we exist in now and it all happened so fast

Can you imagine explaining to your kids someday how music used to cost as much as movie tickets ? That people paid or music  or taped it off of the radio ? How research meant spending whole afternoons and weekends in a library with out of date books, encyclopedias !, having to get off the phone to use the internet, missing an episode of a show and being lucky enough to catch it as a rerun. Kids being innocent ! God I feel old !

@my underage followers do not date anyone over 18. like it’s different if you’re 17 and they’re barely 18 and you’ll both be 18 soon (given that you’ve been dating for a while of course)

but like example if you’re 15 and your partner just turned 18 like… that’s a big age difference. it’s just 3 years but the difference in maturity is HUGE. like i myself as a 15 y/o was nations away from where I am now as an 18 y/o

never let anyone tell you “love has no age”, and never bend to threats. your comfort zone matters and you deserve someone your own age. question why an 18+ year old would want to date a minor

This is how you run a country properly

I’m sorry but this isn’t funny??? I looked up the article and they were being banned for themes like speaking against the government, gay undertones, violence, and things that the chinese government are usually against. If anyone gets caught with these… they’ll either end up in jail or be killed.

I know we all like “haha anime is trash” jokes but this seriously is something to worry about.

I admit this is seriously something, but no, we won’t get killed because of it. As for whether or not we are going to jail, that depends on what you do with these anime. The situation here is somewhat like pornography (sadly). Those who provide the access for purchasing or downloading will take full responsibility, and those who watch it will just have to find another way of doing so.

I saw the news on Weibo (our version of Twitter) yesterday, although it has already been rumored somewhat 2 months ago. I got a link of the news from Xinhua.net (a state-run news agency) here:

文化部公布暴恐动漫黑名单 含《进击的巨人》《死亡笔记》-新华网http://news.xinhuanet.com/yuqing/2015-06/09/c_127895293.htm

As you can see, the decision was made by the Ministry of Culture of the People’s Republic of China, and the reason these anime are banned is they “contains contents that may lead to juvenile delinquency or contents that show violence, explicit sex, terrorism and other that is against the moral of our society”. And the ban was to “prohibit any organization or person to distribute the program” and “urge all anime website to stop providing links” for them. They didn’t really say what they would do to those who watch it, which means we will probably be fine. Also, this is not a law. It’s a government report that the ministy banned these anime and will punish distributors according to a law they made earlier. They have to pass another law (which I assume they won’t anytime soon) if they want to do something about us who watch them.

The main problem here is that China doesn’t have a proper rating system. Any children of any age can get a ticket for any movie in the movie theater. For television, there are not ratings to tell parents that the program is unfit for children. Fuck, we just got a TV show where a female character pulled a fucking grenade out of her vagina. For older generations, this is unacceptable. There are many complaints over these years so the government wants to do something about it. That’s why they cut the nude scene of Titanic when it re-released in 3D (they didn’t cut it in the original version).

Most of the anime in this list is aired in Japan early in the morning. For those time slots, it’s OK to show explicit contents but in China, these shows are broadcast via video sites somewhat like a free version of Netflix. No basic information is needed to view the anime and sometimes (someone think) this may cause problems.  A girl once cracked her BF’s head with a frying pan for that’s what the female lead in Xiyangyang (喜羊羊, one of the most poorly-made and disgusting animation in the universe, but very popular in China for that’s almost all we’ve got because it’s made in China) always does to her husband.   So they just did what they always did: get rid of things (some of) them think is problematic and just pretend the whole problem doesn’t exist.

As for “speaking against the government” and “gay undertone”, maybe? I haven’t watched all of them. Doesn’t governments define “speaking against the government” terrosim most of the time? There may be some of these “speaking” things in them, but I think/hope it’s not the sole reason. (I just saw a video claiming one of these anime taught you how to make bombs. I think maybe that’s what they are worried about?) As for gays, I admit this is a problem, but they don’t openly suppress it and really don’t care much about it. (By this I mean it’s totally OK to talk about it online.)

The news does say there will be more, which is disturbing. But there will be ways for us to find our favorite anime. I was a big fan of Parasyte and finished the series before this came out. Now it will be harder for me to find them, but there are plenty of links for downloading (the weak laws of copyright protection laws in China sometimes have its advantages in a sarcastic way).

All I was trying to say is that we aren’t living in the 1950s and the government can kill almost anyone they want to. Banning those anime is not a good move but at least (they think) they have a point. It does make our lives harder, but we won’t get to prison or get killed because of it.

I genuinely hope this reblog gets spread around as much as the deaf-wolfwood’s
